Damlataş Cave came to light in 1948 during quarrying for the harbour. With stalactites, stalagmites and columns thought to have formed over some 15,000 years, it became Alanya’s first tourist attraction.
Inside, the temperature stays at 22-23 °C year round with very high humidity. Because the air is believed to ease respiratory complaints, morning hours were for many years reserved for asthma patients.
The entrance sits right at the start of Cleopatra Beach next to the Alanya Archaeological Museum, so it fits easily into a walk along the shore.
